Today - we let the Peace Corps know we accepted their invite

So it begins. Today I let the Peace Corps know that Karen and I have accepted their invitation to serve with the Peace Corps in Jamaica for a little over two years.

It has been a longish process starting with lengthy discussions about what to do next to keep our lives interesting. Often with too much wine and usually with great emotion and passion, these discussions always had a sense of excitement and yes, fright. My everlasting gratitude and love to my wife for her very high tolerance to my crooked career path. Never dull, there have certainly been some hair pin turns that made us wonder about our path at that particular moment. In addition, her own career, while very rewarding right now, will take on a whole new level of meaning and application of the skills she has crafted in 30 years of nursing for a population very much in need of her talents and compassion.

We will craft this blog over the next few weeks to its somewhat final form and then, once we are away try to post as often as we can. Resources for such things have yet to be identified in Jamaica and we'll just have to see how it goes. In the meantime, it is a good time to reflect and prepare. Please post as often as you like on this site as well and know that your comments will help us stay connected.

Love to all.

Matt
